Lane1 was established in 2007 when Ken Hardy, an ex-competitive swimmer, decided to leave the corporate world where he worked as a European Sales & Marketing Director and follow his passion for sport.
After spending a number of years coaching a multitude of sports in schools, he went on to work with both Burton Albion Football Club and Derby County Ladies. Being made aware in 2010 that 42% of children between the ages of 7 and 11 Cannot swim and having a passion for swimming, Ken decided to do something about this so the Lane1 Swim Schools were born and now after just a few years, teaches hundreds of children a week to swim.
Waterbugs (Baby & Toddler Swimming) is a long term plan to reduce this outrageous statistic, teaching younger children an important life skill, helping to prevent needless deaths from drowning. This also plays a major part in the health and wellbeing of our younger generation and their parents.
