How Waterbugs can help

Benefits of swimming lessons with Lane1 Waterbugs

Physical Benefits

Benefits for You

Swimming after pregnancy benefits you in many ways. Our classes are great for strengthening your core stability, improving your posture and for pelvic floor exercise. They aid the increase in muscle tone and the loss of calories and body fat, and one 30-minute class can burn 250 calories! Alongside teaching your baby to swim our programme is developed to help you move forward with your health and fitness steadily in a safe and comfortable environment, perfect for taking the steps back into a fully active and healthy lifestyle.

Benefits for Your Baby

The benefits of baby swimming classes are numerous. A weekly swim improves your baby’s cardio-vascular system and builds strength. Swimming can aid early walking; co-ordination and associated motor skills are also improved through regular exercise.

Emotional Benefits

Benefits for You

Exercise releases endorphins, which leads to better moods and increased self-esteem but most importantly the classes give you precious bonding time with your baby. Our swimming classes can also relieve stress through developing your fitness levels.

Benefits for Your Baby

Water is a natural environment for babies, in which they feel safe and secure. Weekly baby swim classes further develops the bond with your baby. Starting to swim at an early age familiarises children with water and gives them the confidence to swim below the water level and start the early stages of learning this important life skill.

Social Benefits

Benefits for You

You’ll meet other like-minded mums and dads with babies to have a chat and a coffee after the swimming class if you so wish.

Benefits for Your Baby

During our swim classes, babies interact with others in a fun and happy social environment.

Intelligence Benefits

Our swimming classes are structured to ensure babies are constantly and continuously stimulated.

Language Benefits

Language development can be improved through swimming.

Babies are constantly interacting with you and other babies and children throughout the classes. The teacher also provides a verbal stimulus through teaching.

The swimming adventure is just beginning; our classes are a stimulating and exciting introduction to water, promoting water confidence, stroke development, and life-saving skills.

Courses have been carefully designed with a balanced set of activities including swimming technique, safety skills, floating, individual and group work including songs and games. However, the emphasis remains on learning through having fun!

Lane1 Water Bugs lessons are a great way to teach your child to swim and will develop your toddler’s water confidence and stroke development, helping them progress to independent swimming.

Toddlers usually show signs of swimming on the surface around two and a half years old, when they have gained the strength to raise their heads to breathe. Toddlers who join our programme are frequently able to swim at least 10 metres before they start school and will learn to love swimming for life!

Lane1 Waterbugs teachers are all ASA or STA qualified to the highest standard and have also completed a specialist Lane1 training programme.
